The gouex bakers - Dabiel Jacquemain Local Towns and Villages Gouex (just over 1 mile) is a charming village also on the River Vienne where you'll find a church, bakery, bar, and post office. The town hall (mairie) is also located here. Believe it or not, Gouex has its own outdoor swimming pool (July and August), as well as a municipal campsite open in the summer months, an attractive river frontage, play area, and large village hall with a social programme. In addition there are fishing lakes in peaceful relaxing surroundings where there is an abundance of carp, catfish, bream, chub and barbel to catch. Persac is less than 2 miles away, and offers a bakery, chemists, tabac, and a beautiful park with a fishing lake, as well as a château where regular exhibitions are held. Queaux (2 miles) has a beautiful, riverfront park and in the summer it has its own beach, lifeguard and children’s play area and paddling pool. Also during July and August, there is weekly live entertainment with refreshments. There are bars, restaurants, tourist office, and a broad range of shops and services including hardware stores, secondhand shops (brocante), and a local market on Friday mornings.
